Listen Up! SXSW Recap Edition

This week, Listen Up! takes a look back at some of the bands and artists who rocked Austin during this year’s SXSW music festival.

Oh, the difference a year makes. Last year, we were at the South by Southwest music festival, checking out bands, partying like rock stars and shooting some really awesome videos. This year, we sat in our office—our windowless office—as the week passed us by. Stupid economy.

Now that the festival has wrapped and everyone is recapping what an awesome time they had, we’re feeling particularly regretful about our absence. (What if we too had driven the 1,526 miles from DC to Austin?) Obviously, one of the shows we’re bummed about missing was the DC Does Texas showcase, which featured These United States, Deleted Scenes, Middle Distance Runner, and more.

Because we couldn’t make the festival, we’ve decided to do the next best thing: compile a playlist of some of the local performers we wish we could have seen live at the music festival. Also, we’ve embedded the video for Middle Distance Runner’s new single, “The Unbeliever,” because it’s freakin’ awesome.

Was there a band, local or otherwise, you wish you could have seen live at SXSW? Let us know in the comments and we’ll add it to our playlist throughout the day.

This playlist is no longer available. Sorry, folks!
