This gawk-worthy trunk show might be worth attending even if you’re not planning a trip down the aisle. Hitched (1523 Wisconsin Ave., NW; 202-333-6162) is hosting an Oscar de la Renta trunk show to display the designer’s ruffled, ice-white fashions—and the recession-be-damned prices.

If you don’t have a de la Renta-size budget, you’re in luck: Today’s Designer Sample Sale at Carine’s Bridal Atelier (1726 Wisconsin Ave., NW.; 202-965-4696) has some serious deals. The dresses are in great condition, but there’s one caveat: There are sizes 8 and 10 only, although they can be taken in. Represented designers include Carolina Herrera, Melissa Sweet, Monique Lhuillier, Reem Acra, and the Platinum Collection, and the gowns—some originally priced as high as $9,000—will be marked down by as much as 75 percent. Why should heterosexuals have all the fun? GayWeddings.com is hosting a Gay and Lesbian Wedding Planning Seminar from 7 to 9. The site’s president, Kathryn Hamm, will be on hand to answer questions and offer the latest news on same-sex weddings in Washington. The event will be held in the Sheraton National Hotel’s Galaxy Ballroom (900 South Orne St., Arlington), and cocktails and appetizers will be served.
