The Washington Animal Rescue League kicks off a month of discounts from Love of Dog Bakery. As the charity of the month, the gourmet pet-treat site is donating 5 percent of its April proceed to WARL. Click here for more information.

For help adjusting to the newest member of your family, try the Washington Animal Rescue League’s (71 Oglethorpe St., NW) New Dog Guardian Orientation Class. The league’s trainer will lead the free seminar on house training, chewing, socialization, and more. The class is for people only and starts at 6:15. E-mail training@warl.org to RSVP.

Keep up with the latest dog-training tips at Petco’s Rockville location (1507 Rockville Pike; 301-984-9733) when the store hosts the first of its six-week series on clicker training. 6:30.

Sunday, April 4
Former racing greyhounds will find the fastest way to your heart at the Big Bad Woof’s (117 Carroll St., NW) Greyhound Welfare Meet and Greet. Adoptable dogs will be on-site along with volunteers to answer questions. Noon to 2.

Feline friends put their best paw forward at Chateaux-Animaux’s Capitol Hill location (524 Eighth St., SE) for a Capital Cats adoption event. Noon to 3.
