Where & When: What to Do Tonight

Start your weekend with music, dance, and a love story

Sabrina Fair opens tonight at Ford’s Theatre. This modern fairy tale—the source for the Audrey Hepburn classic (and Julia Ormond remake)—is about a chauffeur’s daughter torn between two wealthy suitors. 7:30. Tickets ($20 to $55) are available here. The show runs through October 24.

El Teatro de Danza Contemporanea de El Salvador is hosting the first Latin American dance festival in Washington. “Unspoken Words—Dance Latin America” features styles from Cuba, Mexico, El Salvador, and other countries. It’s at Dance Place at 8. Tickets ($10 to $25) are available here or at 202-269-1600.

It’s hard to separate the country from the headlines, but the Embassy Series kicks off tonight with “Music of Iraq: Safaafir.” The highly regarded group Safaafir performs in the Maqam style, drawn from the musical cultures of Bedouins, Kurds, Turks, and other Iraqi ethnic groups. The event is at the Iraqi Cultural Center (1630 Connecticut Ave., NW) at 7:30. Tickets ($75) are available here.
