Lunafest, which features ten short movies made by and for women, screens The Translator, a take on subway stories, and Mother of Many, an animated look at midwifery. Filmmaker Karim Chrobog and Refugees International are hosting a showing of War Child at Napoleon Bistro. The film tells the story of Sudanese child soldier turned hip-hop artist, Emmanuel Jal, who now works to bring peace and education to his home country. 6:30 to 9:30. Buy tickets ($25) here. “Spirit of the Festival,” part of the Washington DC International Wine & Food Festival, challenges five pairs of local chefs and mixologists to create delicious combinations of food and drink. It’s at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center from 7 to 10. Tickets ($55) are available here.
