Clarence Lusane, associate professor of political science at American University, is at Busboys & Poets’ 14th and V streets location to discuss and sign copies of his new book, The Black History of the White House, which looks at the presidential residence through the eyes of African-Americans who have worked there. 6:30.

Tuesday, January 25
Former First Son Ron Reagan stops by the Borders at 18th and L streets in downtown DC to talk about and sign copies of his latest book, My Father at 100. 12:30.

Wednesday, January 26
The National Museum of Natural History is sponsoring “Citizens of the Sea: Perspectives From Australia,” a discussion about the world’s oceans and the future of coral reefs. The museum’s Nancy Knowlton and Ian Poiner of the Australian Institute of Marine Science are on the panel, held at the Embassy of Australia. To RSVP, call 202-797-3025. Thursday, January 27
9500 Liberty, a film about Prince William County’s immigration debates, is showing at the Sixth & I Historic Synagogue Thursday evening. The film is followed by a Q&A and discussion with director Annabel Park. RSVP through Sixth & I’s Web site. 7:30 to 9:30.

Friday, January 28
The second part of the lecture series “The Sierra Leone-Gullah Link” is at the Anacostia Community Museum tonight. Virginia State University’s Arthur Abraham explores the relationship between these two cultures, focusing on the history of the Mende people. 7 PM.

Saturday, January 29
National Symphony Orchestra members Joel Fuller (violin), James Nickel (horn), and Lisa Emenheiser (piano) are playing Debussy’s Sonata in G Minor and Brahms’s Horn Trio at the Kennedy Center’s free Millennium Stage. 6 PM.

Sunday, January 30
My Tehran for Sale, a 2009 Iranian film directed by Granaz Moussavi, screens at the Freer Gallery’s Meyer Auditorium at 2 PM. Part of the museum’s Global Film Initiative, the film is about an actress who goes against the grain of traditional Iranian culture. The director will be in attendance to answer questions.
