HISTORY: Have a chance to leave work early? The new exhibit at the Library of Congress, “The Last Full Measure: Civil War Photographs From the Liljenquist Family Collection,” is a 15-year project from a McLean jeweler and his three sons. They found the 700-plus items in the show, including photographs, letters, and military artifacts, at local estate sales, dealers, and on eBay. Through August 13; free. The exhibit is open from 8:30 to 4:30.
FOOD: A feast for your senses opens at the Yards Park. Tonight through May 22, the temporary Sensorium will offer up 12-course meals with wine pairings from chef Bryon Brown (Artisa Kitchen). While you eat, take in theatrical vignette, complete with costumes and lighting, from a variety of local artists. The project is housed in a custom-built geodesic dome. POLITICS: The six leading candidates in the District’s special election for At-Large Councilmember will participate in a debate hosted by Washington City Paper, Chuck Thies from WPFW’s DC Politics show, and NBC4’s Tom Sherwood tonight at the Black Cat. No cover; 7 to 9 PM.
