FILM:
The Capital Irish Film Festival is hosting a free screening of The Secret of Kells at the Dupont Renaissance Hotel. The Oscar-nominated film follows a young boy's quest to complete a magical book filled with secret wisdom and power. You can check out the trailer here. Complimentary popcorn will be served. The film begins at 7 PM, but seats are limited, so get there early.

MUSIC: The Steve Miller Band are bringing their classic rock 'n' roll hits to the Wolf Trap tonight. Known for chart-toppers such as "The Joker" and "Fly Like an Eagle," the band's latest album, Let Your Hair Down, was nominated for the Blues Rock Album of the Year. You can listen to one of the new singles here. For tickets ($25 to $45), go to the event Web site. 8 PM.

SHOPPING: Let's face it—that cramped English basement is more like your stuffy old dorm room than any of us would care to admit. So why not take advantage of the countless back-to-college sales and decorate accordingly? Rockville consignment boutique My Best Friend's Closet (9735 Traville Gateway Dr.; 301-340-3233) is hosting a launch party for Dormify's new bedding collection, with decorating experts along for the ride. Hor d'oeuvres from Cava will be served, and there will be giveaways all night long. Attendees will also receive 15 percent off purchases of $100 or more. 5 to 9 PM.

PRIDE: LongView Gallery is hosting the DC Gay Flag Football League's Calendar Launch Party. Mingle with the models, sip on cocktails from an open bar, and pick up a calendar or two. Proceeds from calendar sales will benefit local gay and lesbian high school athletes. For tickets ($10), go to the event Web site. 6 to 8:30 PM.

SIGNING: Football fans won't want to miss the chance to meet Joe Ehrmann at the downtown Barnes & Noble. The former NFL player will be discussing and signing copies of his new book, InSideOut Coaching: How Sports Can Transform Lives. Ehrmann was recently hailed as "the most important coach in America" by Parade magazine. Free; 6:30 PM.
