We just got the exciting news that Fabulous Frocks, a bridal consignment boutique with locations in Atlanta and Charleston, will be opening its first outpost in the Washington area, in Alexandria’s Del Ray neighborhood, this November. Of course, this is great news if you’re looking for a wedding dress—designer gowns by the likes of Vera Wang, Romona Keveza, and Monique Lhuillier will be sold at 30 to 75 percent off retail price. But it’s also a big deal for recent brides—you can consign your gently-worn wedding dress through Fabulous Frocks and get half of the profits.
We spoke with Linda Fairall, co-owner of this Fabulous Frocks location (and a former bridal consultant at Hannelore’s), about the concept.
Starting on September 30, recent brides can start bringing in their wedding gowns to Fabulous Frocks for resale by appointment. There are some ground rules: gowns must have retailed for $2,000 or more, the dresses should be in good condition, professionally cleaned, and pressed, and they can’t have been purchased more than five years ago. You’ll also need to bring a proof of purchase (receipt or contract) so that Fabulous Frocks can confirm the price.
For brides-to-be, the boutique will open in November, and will not only feature consignment bridal gowns at up to 75 percent off retail, but also new bridesmaid dresses by Jenny Yoo (Loved the cute red bridesmaid dresses the Glee girls wore to Kurt’s mom’s wedding? Yup, she made ‘em!), and stylish accessories by Sara Gabriel.
