Sporty/Sweet: Two Non-Obvious Looks for Celebrating St. Patrick's Day

You don’t have to dress like a leprechaun to show your Irish pride.

Sporty

Take a cue from one of our favorite style bloggers–blue and green stripes are very au courant. If your St. Patty’s plan is to drink green beer on a patio in Clarendon all day (hey, ain’t no shame in that), your best bet is a loose popover shirt in the same style. Pair it with cuffed jeans and comfy flats (we love these brogues for a tomboy twist), then stash your essentials in an impossible-to-lose bright green pouch. And don’t forget a necklace filled with good-luck charms!

J.Crew striped popover, $118; Jack Wills brogue, $298 (call the Georgetown store at 202-333-7980); Current/Elliott cuffed boyfriend jeans, $280; Comme des Garçons wallet, $98; Lauren G. Adams multi-charm pendant necklace, $135.

Sweet

Got something a bit more refined scheduled for Saturday–a nice brunch at home with green eggs, whiskey cocktails, and soda bread, perhaps? Try color-blocking with a full skirt and a mint top. Light coral accents add an extra feminine touch, and retro clover studs are a pretty way to play up your Irish pride.

Ralph Lauren cotton T-shirt, $130; Bronzed by Barse clover studs, $20; Kate Spade coin purse, $50; Modcloth Musée Rodin skirt, $30.99; Stella & Dot Zahara bib necklace, $248; Steve Madden Chieeff wedge, $89.95.
