Real Wedding: Linnie and Billy

A quirky wedding with metallic accents, lots of gray, and pops of color. And did we mention the robots?

Photographs by Tracy Timmester, Timmester Photography.

Occupations: Linnie’s a receptionist at an animal hospital; Billy’s a videographer

Hometowns: She’s from Burke; he’s from Vienna

First date: Watching the planes land at Reagan National Airport from Gravelly Point Park

How they got engaged: Billy arranged for a scuba diver to hold up a “Will you marry me?” sign underwater at the Mandalay Bay Shark Reef Aquarium in Las Vegas

Wedding theme: The couple has a fondness for vintage robots, so the decor was quirky and mechanical, with metallic accents, lots of gray, and pops of color

Wedding flowers: Multi-hued calla lilies; centerpieces were lily-filled vases stacked to look like robots

Bride’s bouquet: Handmade from a mix of vintage and new brooches

Wedding cake: One tier of caramel cake with caramel buttercream, and two tiers of chocolate with chocolate buttercream

Wedding cocktail: The “Intergalactic Planet Berry”: berry vodka, lemonade, and fresh strawberries

Attendant attire: All the attendants wore bright, coordinating Converse sneakers

DIY element: The couple made clay robots to hold up the place cards; guests then took them home as keepsakes

Four words to describe the wedding: Greatest dance party, ever

Honeymoon spot: Las Vegas, “where it all began,” says Billy
