Great Bars 2013: Franklins

Mike Franklin’s rollicking brewpub doubles as a family-style
restaurant, which means that in addition to watching two sometimes
disparate crowds mix under one industrial roof, you can pair any of a
dozen microbrews with chef Marc Heckrotte’s tasty dishes: oven-roasted
mussels, stone-oven pizzas, Roseda Farms beef burgers, and a raft of
bistro specials. Insider tip: Brewmaster Mike Roy’s ever-changing
offerings run the gamut—IPAs, blonds, porters, stouts, Belgian-style ales,
wheat beers, all with clever titles referencing pop culture (a shout-out
to Laurel resident Biz Markie was as hilarious as it was delicious). Open
daily.
