Real Wedding: Jennifer and Miguel

This couple added a bit of personal flair to their otherwise traditional outdoor ceremony.

Jennifer Flansburg’s love of soccer immediately endeared her to Miguel Snyder and his brother, Matt, when they were looking for a roommate. The three immediately hit it off when they met at a July Fourth party, and Jennifer moved in with them shortly after. During roommate taco night at the house, which only Jennifer and Miguel attended, both felt a spark, leading to a romance and, a year and a half later, a proposal.

Miguel, an engineer, suggested the two go to Georgetown for lunch and ice skating. As they walked by the canal on the way to the ice rink, Miguel popped the question. “Miguel made it even more special when (we) started skating. He started filming a video on his phone saying hello to our future kids, saying, ‘Mom and Dad just got engaged and we can’t wait to meet you,’” says Jennifer, an economic research analyst. A traditional outdoor ceremony followed 15 months later.
