About Restaurant Openings Around DC

A guide to the newest places to eat and drink.

Fast-casual Mediterranean food lovers, rejoice. Homegrown chainlet Cava Grill is opening a new location in Dupont Circle at 1222 Connecticut Avenue NW on Friday, April 1.

As Washingtonian reported last fall, the Dupont location will vary slightly from its four other DC locations. It’ll include a separate space for online order pick-ups, more seasonal vegetables, soups, and fresh juices, and it will exclusively serve green harissa, a new dressing made with spicy jalapeños. Customizable bowls and pita sandwiches will remain the focus, with a lineup of local beers and wines on tap.

It will also feature an interior greenery installation from local artist and terrarium aficionado Holley Simmons of Sill Life and The Lemon Bowl.

If you’re planning on taking your lunch break on opening day, get there between 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for a free lunch: grain bowls, salads, pitas, and hummus. Just plan for a line out the door.
