I read the reviews in Washingtonian and decided to sample the menu. My Mom and I stopped in on our way way home for take out and was greeted and helped by a ver friendly waiter. I ordered the shrimp toast (now I'm addicted), baked scallops (mediocre) and the beef noodle soup. that is the best beef noodle soup I've ever eaten and this will be the third time in three straight days that we will stopping in for take out.
I have never been a fan of Vietnamese food because of the fish sauce, but this food is delicious!!
My husband and I took my daughter and her boyfriend to Four Sisters to celebrate her new job. For starters we had shrimp toast, pork spring rolls and vegetarian spring rolls which arrived within 5 minutes of being ordered. The spring rolls were crisp, the fillings delicious, served with lettuce, thai basil and fish sauce; it was a wonderful beginning! We then moved on to the lettuce wraps, perfectly seasoned, nicely caramelized lemongrass chicken and beef, and vermicelli patties. A delightful meal for a warm summer evening. And a sweet ending with fried bananas, sticky rice with mangos and iced vietnamese coffee. Make a reservation or be prepared to wait.
Have been to the restaurant 3 times. Once with co-workers (lunch), once with wife and third time with entire family (dinners). Staff is overwhelmed but very gracious when they do show up. When meal was finished, had to sit around for good 15-20 minutes until they came to clean up. Food is overpriced with very small dishes. The only dish we thought was great and would go back for is the shrimp toast appetizer. Everything else was ok, didn't blow us away. One night, a shrimp dish wasn't available and they just substituted without letting us know. When questioned, the young lady said "sorry". Another night, the busboy was going to throw out our leftovers when he started to stack the plates, I had to stop him. Disappointing place.
My wife and I and another couple went to Four Sisters recently. The restaurant was packed and noisey. We all had different dishes and none of them were flavorful; perhaps in the speed to get them to the table and us out the door, they left the flavor in the kitchen. There are much better Vietnamese restaurants than this one; but, judging by the crowds, and editor's review, the majority do not agree with my assessment. Perhaps we ordered all of the wrong dishes or simply caught them on a bad night.
