Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. The closest you could possibly get to an Italian restaurant experience without having to take a flight there. The wine, the food, the slow service....it was all so authentic. I felt like I was back in Rome. If you don't like slow service, then take my advice, and never visit Italy because you would hate it. All good things come to those who wait. That's what you learn from dining out in Italy and real Italian homemade pasta in DC is definitely worth waiting for.

I had heard a lot about Pasta Mia and arrived at 630 with a date. We waited in line for 5 minutes and was ushered in and seated. About 20 minutes after being seated we met our waitress who did little more than nod and take an order. It took an hour to get a caprese salad. At the 1.5 hour mark we got our food which was pasta! Yes it was fair, the bolognese salty the ravioli was fine, but all you get is pasta! Why would you eat here? They only serve pasta and the service is slow and rude. So what if you can get a cheap bowl of pasta? Go to any other decent italian place and have a nice waiter and space to eat your food. I might sound bitter but you pay $67 for two plates of pasta after sitting there for 2 hours without any explanation

Whenever people come into town I always like taking them to Pasta Mia. although the prices have gone up since the 2004 review (pasta dishes are now $16), I still consider it one of my favorite restaurants in DC. The portions are huge and you will have more than enough for lunch the next day. The house red wine is excellent and there is no reason in my mind to order off of the wine list. For appetizers the cesar salad, house salad and buffalo and mozzarella cheese are all really fresh, good options. Any of the entrees will be good, it just depends what your tastes are. Penne Amatrice is a spicy tomato sauce with bacon in it and is my favorite. Get there early to get a table or you will wait a long time. Service is slow but worth it.
