My husband & I recently celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary at the Inn. While the food was delicious, & the wine pairings spectacular, the overall experience did not meet my expectations. It felt like the staff were trying to act formal; it put me on edge. The decor was "aged grandeur" - felt stale. My personalized menu had a pen streak on it - picky, sure, but when you spend $1k on a meal, you expect attention to every detail. Also, the A/C was blasting & they had to bring me a blanket. I had a much better overall experience at Restaurant Eve's tasting room earlier in the year - I felt like royalty and enjoyed myself immensely. The food wasn't as amazing but it was very good, as were wines. I'm telling my friends the Inn isn't worth it.
Beautiful restaurant tucked inside a quaint little inn in not so quaint Washington, VA. We opted for the tasting menu that was comprised of several courses paired with a fine wine. Each course was a delight in culinary expression. Dishes ranged from other-wordly good to very good. Dessert was a disappointment in that our sorbet was too hard to eat without jabbing a spoon in it and our souffle was a tad undercooked and somewhat indistinct. The wine pairings were mostly good, with only one being extraordinary. We expected an exquisite experience from top to bottom given the $800 price tag for two! While we got a great meal, we cannot call it exquisite. Great service. Packed on a Sunday night.
