We picked Sonoma for a Restaurant Week lunch and were astonished at how badly treated we were. Only 3/4 of the entrees were brought out with an indifferent "the other one is coming." It arrived 10 minutes later. One of the original entrees was cold, as if it had been sitting out for a long time in the kitchen. When I asked for a warm meal, I was presented with a plate that was lukewarm at best. I asked the hostess if it was meant to be that way and got a lecture about the quality of the foods at the restaurant. No apologies, no concern for the diners, just arguments. Save your $ and go somewhere that cares about its diners.

I've visited Sonoma a few times for drinks so was eager to see what their restaurant was like. Having recently moved to DC from New York, I was eager to find a good, moderately priced restaurant in the Capitol Hill area. Unfortunately, for the prices, I found Sonoma to be really disappointing. The decor is unarguably stylish (think long granite bar, extravagantly displayed wine fridges, floral sculptures) and the service is good, but the food varies from average to bad. My ham steak was incredibly salty and chewy, and the accompanying two slices of apple were measly. My boyfriend's chicken parmigiano tasted OK, apart from the sauce which seemed to be nothing more than a heated up tin of tomatoes. Unimpressive.
