Best of 2004: Julian Mulvey

This native Brit knows his American politics.

Democratic Dynamo. Democratic media consultant Julian Mulvey, 32, credits growing up in England for his addiction to American politics. Brits are obsessed with the States, he says—"though we're loath to admit it." Mulvey's "Lord of the Right Wing" was downloaded 6 million times, making it this year's most-viewed political flash animation. In March—a few months after setting up his consulting firm, julianmulvey.com—the Shrum, Devine, Donilon alum conceived the media-and-message strategy for 26-year-old Ohio congressional candidate Capri Cafaro, who won 56 percent of the vote in a five-way primary (though she lost the election in November's GOP sweep).
