Sunday, June 7: At DC’s Dupont Circle FreshFarm market (1500 block of 20th St., NW, between Massachusetts Ave. and Q St.), Spanish chef Quim Marqués makes paella in conjunction with Jaleo’s annual paella festival. The demonstration starts at 11, and free samples will be given out.
Find ferris wheels, funnel cake, fireworks, and more at Celebrate Fairfax, Northern Virginia’s largest annual community-wide celebration. With live concerts, carnival rides, food halls, and even laser tag, there’s fun to be had for everyone. Adult tickets start at $12, and basic children’s admission is $5. Country-music fans, take note: Phil Vassar (of “Just Another Day in Paradise” fame) will perform at 3:30. Click here for directions to the event grounds.
New Orleans expats and Cajun-music aficionados alike will be happy to hear that tickets are still available for Wolf Trap’s 20th annual Louisiana Swamp Romp. If you’ve been craving that electric zydeco sizzle or are just in the mood to explore a new musical genre, purchase tickets ($25) here.
