“Print by Print: Series From Dürer to Lichtenstein,” Baltimore Museum of Art

October 30 through March 25

This ambitious show looks at 500 years of printmaking, showing its evolution from Düer’s woodcuts to works by contemporary printmaker Andrew Raftery. Plus—Picasso, Canaletto, and more. More details can be found at Baltimore Museum of Art’s Web site.

“Van Gogh Up Close,” Philadelphia Museum of Art

February 1 through May 6

Van Gogh’s unusual perspective is examined in this exhibit of some 40 works, including rarely displayed paintings as well as Japanese prints of van Gogh’s time, that play with vision and depth while capturing images in an innovative way. Phiadelphia Museum of Art’s Web site has more details.

Barnes Foundation Reopening, Philadelphia

Opening events May 19 through May 28

Head to Philly to scope out this museum at its new site downtown, relocated from its longtime home in suburban Merion. Albert C. Barnes’s collection, worth an estimated $25 billion, includes 181 Renoirs, 59 Matisses, and 46 Picassos.
