Where to Eat Near RFK Stadium

By Ann Limpert

A bite before the game.

Headed to a Nationals game? There's not much within walking distance of RFK Stadium, but there are good dining choices a Metro ride away:

Union Station: The Monocle (107 D St., NE; 202-546-4488), a venerable restaurant for pols, offers a game-night menu of small plates like miniburgers with onion crisps, sliced filet mignon with peppers and onions, and a mint chocolate-chip ice-cream sandwich for dessert.

Capitol South: Hill hangout Tortilla Coast (400 First St., SE; 202-546-6768) serves discounted pitchers of beer plus regular happy-hour specials three hours before every game.

Eastern Market: Tunnicliffs Tavern (222 Seventh St., SE; 202-544-5680), a longtime neighborhood favorite for burgers and pizzas, begins serving $2 bottles of Budweiser and Bud Light two hours before the game. After the game, bring your ticket stub and get half off the second meal for a party of two.

You can get a pâté fix at Montmartre (327 Seventh St., SE; 202-544-1244), a French bistro.

Tapatini's (711 Eighth St., SE; 202-546-8272) is a  spot for fruity martinis and Mediterranean small plates, and there's a generous happy hour.

The child-friendly Marty's (527 Eighth St., SE; 202-546-4952) offers casual comfort food.

Potomac Avenue: The Pacific Cafe and Grill (1129 Pennsylvania Ave., SE; 202-543-1600) has Vietnamese pho and vermicelli bowls plus vegetarian choices.

The Park Cafe (106 13th St., SE; 202-543-0184) offers pleasant Modern American fare at the edge of Lincoln Park.
