Gelato Truffles at the Dairy Godmother

A taste of gelato.

Not content with merely dishing up the area's best frozen custard, Liz Davis, owner of the Dairy Godmother, has dreamed up another ice-cream-based delight: the gelato truffle. Frozen balls of house-made gelato and sorbet are hand-dipped in dark Belgian chocolate, which forms a shell. The 11/2-inch truffles are available every day and are sold six to a box for $10.95; they also can be ordered in advance. Ever-changing flavors have included chocolate and vanilla gelato and Bordeaux-cherry and raspberry sorbet. Two is about right for most people, but some will want three.
