It’s been a big year for the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington. In June the 225-member ensemble—considered one of the world’s top male choruses—celebrated its 25th anniversary in a Kennedy Center concert with Broadway legend Barbara Cook (“one part heartfelt musical performance,” a Washington Post critic wrote, “one part giddy family reunion”). In August the chorus sang the national anthem at a Nationals baseball game. And this month it launches its 26th season with its popular holiday concert.

“Mistletoe & Memories” will showcase the group’s holiday mix of harmonies and camp, the sacred and the secular. There’ll be three performances at DC’s Lisner Auditorium: December 2 at 2 and 8 pm and December 3 at 2; tickets ($19 to $49) are available at gmcw.org.

Upcoming shows include a return in March of the chorus’s 2002 version of The Wizard of Oz—a fully staged production with costumes, special effects, and (of course) an all-male cast—and in June a newly commissioned work, “This House Shall Stand: Songs of My Family.”
