Looking to drink good wine without spending a lot? Discount-wine nights are great for oenophiles, novices who want to learn about new wines, and anyone just looking to enjoy an inexpensive bottle or two with dinner. Restaurateurs tend to offer wine deals early in the week to increase business on slower nights—most promotions are on Sunday and Monday. So when the weekend’s over and it’s time to get back to the grind, you can kick off your week on a fun note with wine and dinner at one of these restaurants.
Have a favorite half-price-wine night that we missed? Please leave it in the comment section—we’d love to know about it!
SUNDAY
Clyde’s of Georgetown, Reston, and Tysons Corner and the Tombs. At the American restaurants in this local chain, all wines except “cellar selections”—the most expensive bottles on the list—are half price.
Indique. This Cleveland Park Indian restaurant pours half-price bottles from noon to closing.
Lia’s. At Geoff Tracy’s Italian spot in Chevy Chase, all wines are half-price all night in both the dining room and the bar.
Vidalia. Half-priced bottles are on offer with the Southern-influenced American cuisine at one of the Washingtonian’s 100 Very Best Restaurants. Vidalia also offers free wine tastings and canapés in its wine bar Monday through Friday from 5:30 to 6:30.
SUNDAY AND MONDAY
Dino. This wine-centric neighborhood Italian spot in Cleveland Park offers “wine madness”—one-third off all wines more than $50—all night on Sunday and Monday. Tuesday and Thursday, there’s no corkage fee for those who bring their own bottle.
SUNDAY, MONDAY, AND TUESDAY
Peacock Cafe. This Georgetown haunt is popular for weekend brunch, but it’s also worth an evening trip: All bottles in the $60-and-under category are half off all night. At sister restaurant Peacock Grand Cafe in downtown DC, you can bring your own bottle on Monday without paying a corkage fee if you buy an entrée.
MONDAY
Black Market Bistro. Jeff and Barbara Black’s cozy restaurant in a historic Victorian house offers select bottles for half price.
Bombay Bistro. All wines available by the glass are offered for half price by the bottle at this Rockville Indian restaurant.
Boulevard Woodgrill. After 5 at this chic, wine-centric Clarendon spot, all bottles on the wine list are half off.
Clyde’s of Columbia and Chevy Chase, Willow Creek Farm, and Tower Oaks Lodge. These Clyde’s locations offer the same deal on Monday as their siblings do on Sunday: All bottles except “cellar selections” are half off.
Chef Geoff’s. At both locations of this lively American bistro, all bottles are half price.
Daily Grill (1310 Wisconsin Ave. NW;202-337-4900). At the Georgetown location of this traditional American bar and restaurant, any wine on the list is half price after 4.
Heritage India. All bottles on the list are half off at the original Glover Park location of this elegant Indian restaurant.
Indique Heights. All wines offered by the glass are available for half price by the bottle at this stylish Indian destination in Chevy Chase.
Iota Club & Café. Half-price wine is available all night at one of Virginia’s best music venues.
Olazzo Bethesda and Silver Spring. At this homey Italian spot, all bottles are half off if you purchase entrées.
This list really should be updated - it’s been 2 years and I’m sure things have changed!
Red Rocks in Old Town has half priced wine bottles on Tuesdays.

I Can’t believe that Redwood Bethesda is not mentioned. They have had 1/2 price bottles of wine Sunday through Wednesday that started on Feb 1st. It has been so successful that they have extended it to last all through March now. It was written up in the Washington Post and even got a mention of new trends in the Wall Street Journal. Every bottle on their entire wine list is available, and there are some really great wines that at 1/2 price is a deal that shouldn’t be missed.
