Fashion icon Coco Chanel seems an unlikely inspiration for a kitchen. But she was the muse for a couture-worthy space in this new home, which is currently on the market in McLean’s upscale Spring Hill Farm community.

Like Chanel, the design is feminine and sophisticated. “I wanted it to be as pretty as a fancy dress shop,” says architect J. Paul Lobkovich of Vienna’s Lobkovich Kitchen Designs.

The range hood was intended to resemble a wedding cake, with polished and brushed stainless steel and rounded metallic tiles. A freestanding refrigerator and freezer (not pictured) blend into the cabinetry and were fitted with hand-blown mirrors treated to look like antiques.

The island is topped with Statuario marble and has cabinets on three sides. The custom-built, Art Deco–inspired sink console is made of Santos rosewood and features his-and-her sinks and tapered legs done in silver leaf. Other bling includes a crystal chandelier, polished-nickel hardware, and glass-fronted cabinets with crystal pulls.

The kitchen’s feminine style has been a hit with women who have looked at the house. Says Lobkovich: “A lot of guys walk in and say their wife loves the kitchen.”
