In DC: Former Democratic senator John Breaux and his wife, Lois, bought a two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo on 23rd Street in DC’s West End for $900,000. The newly built luxury unit has a breakfast bar and balcony. Breaux represented Louisiana in the Senate from 1987 to 2005; he now heads Ceasefire on Health Care, a bipartisan healthcare-reform campaign.

Child-development experts Craig and Sharon Ramey sold a five-bedroom, six-bathroom Colonial on Foxhall Crescent in Wesley Heights for $2.5 million. The house, which listed for nearly $2.6 million, has a swimming pool and embassy-size dining room. The Rameys are joint directors of the Center on Health and Education at Georgetown University’s School of Nursing and Health Studies.

IT executive Robert McFarland and his wife, Susan, sold a three-bedroom, four-bathroom brick Federal-style rowhouse on R Street in Georgetown for $1.88 million. McFarland, a former Dell Computer executive, resigned as CIO of the Department of Veterans Affairs in April.

In Virginia: Jacques and Leah Gansler bought a newly built five-bedroom, five-bathroom custom home on Farm Meadow Court in McLean’s Evans Farm neighborhood for $2.53 million. The brick Colonial has an elevator and master suite with luxury bath. Jacques Gansler was an undersecretary of Defense during the Clinton administration; Leah Gansler is founder of CharityWorks, a volunteer organization based in McLean. Their son, Montgomery County state’s attorney Doug Gansler, is running for attorney general of Maryland.

In Maryland: Former Homeland Security czar Tom Ridge and his wife, Michele, sold a Colonial on Randall Lane in Bethesda’s Sumner neighborhood for $1,250,000—about $375,000 more than they paid for it three years ago. The four-bedroom, four-bathroom house listed for $1,195,000. Ridge, a former governor of Pennsylvania, was the first head of the Department of Homeland Security, from 2003 to February 2005. Michele Ridge is the former executive director of the Erie County library system.
