Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison buys $1.6 million Colonial in McLean. Ambassador Martin Indyk pays $1 million for Kalorama condo. Lawyer Nick Allard buys in Georgetown for $4 million.
In Virginia: Former Colorado congressman David Skaggs and his wife, Laura, sold a four-bedroom Colonial in Arlington’s Berkshire Oakwood neighborhood for $930,000. The house listed for $910,000. Skaggs served in Congress from 1981 to 1999. He is now of counsel at the law firm Hogan & Hartson. In DC: Local basketball legend George Leftwich sold a four-bedroom, four-bathroom brick Colonial in Crestwood for $865,000. Leftwich has coached at Georgetown and UDC; he is now athletic director at DC’s Archbishop Carroll High School. Retired ophthalmologist Michael Lemp sold a three-bedroom, three-bathroom brick Colonial with wooded views in Forest Hills for $1 million. Lemp, the former head of Georgetown’s ophthalmology department, has written several books. Capitol Hill aide Heather Higginbottom bought a three-bedroom, four-bathroom Federal-style rowhouse in Mount Pleasant for $800,000. The recently renovated home has several skylights and a wall of windows. Higginbottom is Senator John Kerry’s legislative director. Private-school administrator Josh Wolman and his wife, Rachel, traded a brick Colonial in Chevy Chase, Maryland, for a farmhouse in DC. The couple got $890,000 for their three-bedroom, three-bathroom home on Woodbine Street in Chevy Chase and spent $860,000 for a five-bedroom, three-bathroom clapboard house on Chevy Chase Parkway in DC. Wolman heads Sidwell Friends School’s admissions department. In Maryland: Lawyer James Rosenthal and his wife, Amy, bought a four-bedroom Colonial on Bradley Boulevard in Chevy Chase for its list price of $925,000. Rosenthal is a partner at the Arnold & Porter law firm.
