In DC: Former White House press secretary Jody Powell and his wife, Nan, sold a condo in the Ritz-Carlton Residences in DC’s West End for the list price of $1.53 million. The 2,500-square-foot unit has three bedrooms and four bathrooms. Powell, who served as President Carter’s spokesman, is CEO of Powell Tate, a public-relations firm. Conservative legal scholar Viet Dinh and his wife, lawyer Jennifer Ashworth Dinh, sold a five-bedroom, four-bathroom Beaux Arts townhouse in Kalorama to World Bank lawyer Philippe Benoit for $1,950,000. The five-level house, built in 1895, listed for $2,295,000. Viet Dinh, a Georgetown law professor, clerked for former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, served as an assistant attorney general from 2001 to 2003, and is one of the authors of the Patriot Act. He is also founder and principal of Bancroft Associates, a consulting firm where his wife also works. In Maryland: Dr. Bertha Koomson bought a four-bedroom, four-bathroom Tudor on Whittier Boulevard in Bethesda’s Woodhaven area for $910,000. Koomson, a pediatrician, is married to Koby Koomson, ambassador of Ghana to the United States from 1997 to 2001. Publishing executive Peter Goldstone sold a four-bedroom, four-bathroom Colonial on Farrington Road in Westmoreland Hills for $1.17 million. Goldstone is head of the magazine division at Hanley Wood, a DC-based company that publishes residential- and commercial-construction magazines. In Virginia: Cartoonist Nick Galifianakis bought a three-bedroom, three-bathroom Victorian on East Jefferson Street in Falls Church for $810,000. The house, which listed for $1.1 million, has an in-law suite, cathedral ceilings with skylights, and master bedroom with library sitting area. Galifianakis draws the cartoons that accompany Carolyn Hax’s advice column, “Tell Me About It.” He and Hax divorced in 2001.
