The house listed for $2,175,000 and has a wet bar and four fireplaces. Gonchar played for the Capitals from 1994 to 2003 before going to Boston and then Pittsburgh.

Sports couple Elliott and Estee Portnoy bought a five-bedroom, four-bathroom Colonial in Bethesda’s Longwood neighborhood for $1,675,000. The house has a library and backs to a seven-acre park. Estee Portnoy, of the SFX Sports Group, represents Michael Jordan. Elliott Portnoy, a partner at the DC law firm Sonnenschein, Nath, and Rosenthal, founded KEEN (Kids Enjoy Exercise Now), a nonprofit program for children with disabilities.

In DC: Finance executive Carl J. “Rick” Rickertsen sold a seven-bedroom, six-bathroom brick Federal-style house in Georgetown for $3.12 million. The house has a lower-level in-law suite, master bedroom with private deck, and a library. Rickertsen, former COO of Thayer Capital Partners, is a partner at Pine Creek Partners, a private equity firm based in Georgetown.

Journalist Clive Crook bought a three-bedroom, three-bath townhouse on 26th Street in Georgetown for $1,175,000. The house has an in-law suite and a wall of windows overlooking a private rear garden. Crook is a senior writer with the Atlantic Monthly and National Journal and chief editorial adviser to David Bradley, chair of the Atlantic Media Group.

Finance executive Sara Grootwassink bought a two-bedroom, four-bathroom Federal-style home on P Street in Georgetown for $1,395,000. The house was built in 1810 and has four period fireplaces. Grootwassink is the chief financial officer at Washington Real Estate Investment Trust in Rockville.

In Virginia: George Mason University professor Stephen Fuller sold a four-bedroom, four-bathroom Colonial townhouse on Potomac Court in Old Town Alexandria for $1.15 million. The brick house has views of the Potomac River. Fuller is the head of the university’s Center for Regional Analysis, which studies economic, housing, and employment trends in Washington.
