Cutest White House Pet

Did We Really Call the President’s Dog Ugly?

Note: Voting is now closed.

In 1989, The Washingtonian landed in the White House doghouse.

As part of a “Best & Worst” story, we called Millie, President George H.W. Bush’s springer spaniel Washington’s ugliest dog. Unflattering shots of Millie ran on the cover and inside the magazine. The President was not amused.

“Imagine, picking on a guy’s dog,” he told reporters, triggering stories around the world about Millie.

To give Millie—and The Washingtonian—a chance at redemption, we’re asking readers to pick the cutest presidential pet from recent years. Vote below for one of the cats or dogs below. The winner will be featured in the April issue.
