Michael Jordan’s Son May Walk on at Georgetown

Basketball superstar Michael Jordan, who had an unhappy time in DC with the Washington Wizards, could return to take in some games—this time to watch son Jeffrey.

Jeffrey Jordan, a six-foot-one senior guard at Loyola Academy in Chicago’s north suburbs, is rated among Illinois’s top 30 high-school players, and programs such as DePaul and Northwestern are showing interest. According to Chicago magazine, Jordan has applied to several universities, including Georgetown, in case he doesn’t get an attractive offer from one that’s recruiting him.

If Jordan attends Georgetown, he’d probably have to try out for the basketball team as a walk-on. Georgetown athletic spokesman Mike Carey says only one walk-on has made the team in the last two years.

But it would be hard to turn down a player who could raise the profile of a program the way a Jordan can. Loyola Academy athletic director Patrick Mahoney says the publicity has been crazy already, and Jordan hasn’t even left high school.
