Chief Roberts Getting Thumbs-Up
Roberts may prove better than Rehnquist

Joan Biskupic in USA Today on the relationship of Chief Justice John Roberts and his children: Five-year-old Jack Roberts asked his father upon learning of his appointment, “Daddy, do you get a sword?” No sword, but Roberts is getting good reviews from a court that chafed under Chief Justice William Rehnquist, who often seemed uninterested in building consensus. According to Legal Times analyst Tony Mauro, Rehnquist now is getting skewered in conservative journals for not being a more effective chief justice. Most feel that Roberts already is more effective.
