Spotted: House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi shopping for a bathroom table at Restoration Hardware in Georgetown. . . . Louisiana governor Kathleen Blanco and her entourage dining at a corner table next to Congresswoman Linda Sanchez at Penn Quarter’s Acadiana. The governor—in town lobbying Capitol Hill for more aid to rebuild her devastated state—stopped by the Louisiana-themed restaurant to thank the staff for fundraisers it held for New Orleans last fall. Blanco polished off every bite of her shrimp and grits as well as an order of beig-nets du Vieux Carré. . . . AOL founder Jim Kimsey playing a messenger during the Shakespeare Theatre’s Hamlet congressional night. The costumed billionaire walked on and proclaimed “You’ve got mail,” the online giant’s signature line. Also at the performance, former congressman Billy Tauzin took the stage as Hamlet—a role he first played in high school. Heard: Turns out Tom DeLay spokesman Kevin Madden didn’t have far to move when the House majority leader’s title moved to Ohio’s John Boehner. Boehner promptly appointed Madden his new press secretary, and after only a week’s absence Madden was back in the leader’s office, where his wife, Jaclyn, also works as legislative director. Friends threw Madden a “welcome back” party at Capitol Lounge after he finished moving back into his old office. . . . What happens when you run out of glassware halfway through a party for the nation’s governors? Plácido Domingo’sLatin/Asian-fusion restaurant, Zengo, found itself with that problem during an after-party for the National Governors Association when close to 700 state leaders, administration types, and corporate sponsors descended on a party meant for 450. Zengo’s solution? Borrow glasses from nearby Clyde’s.
