Joshua Ackil: 40 Under 40
The young lobbyists with the most influence in Washington By Marisa M. Kashino
Comments () | Published May 23, 2011

Name: Joshua Ackil
Firm: Franklin Square Group
Age: 39

When Joshua Ackil cofounded the Franklin Square Group four years ago, his mission was to “give Silicon Valley a voice in Washington.” Today, with a roster of clients that includes Apple, Google, and Cisco, he’s one of high tech’s go-to lobbyists.

Ackil provides firsthand perspective on nearly every facet of policymaking, having worked in the Clinton White House, for leaders in both the House and the Senate, and as the chief Democratic lobbyist at the Information Technology Industry Council, a trade group. The experience helps build trust among young tech companies that are often wary of Washington. Ackil focuses on a litany of areas affecting the tech industry, including cybersecurity, privacy, tax-and-trade issues, and immigration.
