How Six Flags America Built Its New 250-Foot Water Slide

Bonzai Pipelines opens this month.

When Six Flags America in Bowie opens its newest attraction in July—the Bonzai Pipelines water slide—riders will fall through a trapdoor-like platform and plummet more than 250 feet, reaching speeds of up to 40 miles an hour inside a fiberglass tube. Here's what happened before they could take the plunge.

Fun Facts:
Construction took about four months. The ride used 438 pieces of fiberglass, 34 columns, and 52 crossbeams and braces. There are eight flights of stairs to the starting platform.
