Four sisters very yummy. Nice new place in Merrified as well.

I regrettably have to say that most people in the dc or (DMV) area have very rudimentary expectations and basic taste. For example sort of agree with the review on 2941. Been going there for years but the service and food is like a roller coaster ride. Sometimes good, often mediocre

2941. Dined here recently for our parent’s 30th wedding anniversary. The meal was underwhelming and what was more surprising was the poor service. Our waiter was rude and argumentative. We asked to accomodate our parent’s who were vegtarian and were told that the whole table had to eat vegetarian or they had to eat meat. The manager came over and the issue was resolved, but this was after a 10 minute discussion in which the waiter refused to work with us. Not only has this never been an issue before, but I clarified this with the host when I made the reservation. We have been going to 2941 for years and this was the most disappointing experience we have had.

Can’t believe someone suggested Hooked should be on this list - it’s the only restaurant I’ve ever been to where I have returned every single dish!
Our favorite sushi restaurant is Yama Sushi in Vienna. It may not be very glamorous but the sushi is incredible and reasonably priced.

Ate at Eve recently... The food was good, but certainly not great. Had on a suit and tie, the dining room was hot. Why didn’t they care enough about their patrons to warn me it could be hot in the place when they called to confirm our reservation? We had been having a heat wave for weeks... Asked them to cool the place down while dining, was told "The building is 200 years old, we can’t get it cooler in here." So is the AC system 200 years old too? Other restaurants in Old Town in similarly aged buildings don’t have that problem. Cathay needs to refocus on what made him famous and not on expanding his empire.

Have you all visited Hooked in Sterling? Their sushi is as good as it gets, but I don’t see them on your lists.

Why didn’t you link the list items to the reviews? How very NYT of you.

3 Bar & Grill is the worst restaurant on this list. how did it even get on here? It is like the bad restaurant in a small mediocre college town opened by a graduate who is now a towny. The end.

Re:2941 We dined midweek in late March at 2941 and had a very disappointing meal. Overpriced and underwhelming to say the least. The food was mediocre - only one person in our party of 7 had an entre that came close to being memorable. Several, including myself, have had much better cullinary experiences at many other (and lesser) resturants. One dish, although not intended as such, was described as tasting like bake beans and barbeque sauce and "distgusting". The waiter was less than attentive and bordered on being flighty - forgetting to pour wine for the person who had ordered the wine, insisting that a wine that was clearly past its prime was drinkable (finally acknowledging the problem after he tasted it) and not responding when neessary to diner requests. The setting was spectacular, but this was a mean wholly unworthy of the region’s number 3 resturant.
