Bangkok 54 Restaurant & Bar, a colorful Thai eatery, has opened at 2919 Columbia Pike in Arlington (703-521-4070). Chef Endoo Tonkphontong's menu includes fresh seafood, meats, rice and noodle combinations, and vegetarian dishes. Popular dishes include spicy roasted duck with chilies, garlic, and basil leaves and steamed fish in chili-lemon sauce. Chef Tonkphontong plans to incorporate locally grown produce into her menu.

Bangkok 54 is known for its desserts. Along with the usual mango and sticky rice, they include a sweet called Luk Chub, miniature imitation fruit made from bean paste and painted in the manner of marzipan.

Bangkok 54 has a good wine list and a selection of beers, Cognacs, and single-malt Scotches. The menu is available for carryout, and delivery is available in a limited area. Carryout may be ordered online at bangkok54restaurant.com.
