Where do you like to shop? Hermes. I got a saddle there when I was 12. It’s always been my dream store. I also love Sassanova in Georgetown, and when I’m in San Francisco, Wilkes Bashford. Also Henri Bendel in New York and Neiman Marcus here. I’m in Seattle a lot, and there’s this boutique there called Mario’s; they have everything from Oscar de la Renta.

Fashion advice? Don’t wear diamonds to work unless they’re around your finger.

A fashion disaster? I did have a pair of shoes break at an inaugural ball. Luckily I had an extra pair with me.
