Another Spa Getaway

By Ellen Ryan

Here’s a twist on deep-tissue massage: Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy, a 90-minute treatment in which the therapist uses her bare feet for two-thirds of the session. It’s at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa & Marina in Cambridge, Maryland.

Therapist Sue Blumenstock wiped her feet on warm, lavender-scented towels and sat on a stool near my head. As I lay face-down, her heels and feet worked my shoulders, arms, and back. Supporting herself on another stool or ceiling-mounted parallel bars, she gently but firmly stroked along the spine and legs. When I turned face-up, she used her hands to massage my arms, legs, face, and scalp.

This reviving $190 treatment is available to guests and day-trippers. Call 410-901-1234 or see chesapeakebay.hyatt.com.
