Cruise Bargain

Want to leave the country without flying? Royal Caribbean departs from Baltimore to Bermuda and is offering discounts on its September sailings. The normal rate on the five-night cruise, on Grandeur of the Seas, starts at $899 a person for an interior cabin; that’s reduced to $609 for the September 2 sailing and $599 for the September 16 and 30 departures. For more information, see royalcaribbean.com.

Shore Savings

The Eastern Shore embodies the best of summer—feasts of crab and corn, days at the beach, lazy sails on the bay. At the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Resort, you can enjoy summer days at the shore and save money.
The Hyatt, which normally charges $299 to $329 a room in summer Monday through Thursday, is offering a Mid-Week Family Retreat package that starts at $249 a night per room, double occupancy. (Kids under 18 stay free in the same room.) It includes breakfast daily and a $50 activities credit that can be put toward a spa treatment, a round of golf at the River Marsh club (already discounted to $99), or services at the 150-slip marina—which offers sailing, fishing, and kayaking. There are free things to do, too, including tennis, indoor and outdoor pools, a fitness center, volleyball, miniature golf, and “dive-in movies.” The resort has a private beach and four restaurants. The special is available until September 9; two-night minimum stay required. For parents who prefer more privacy, the Hyatt’s Family Plan allows you to book an adjoining room at a discount.
