How would you describe your style?

Classic with a bohemian edge. I go for traditional pieces and then add a little fun with a vintage necklace or brooch from Jantiques in Kensington. Or I’ll take a classic black suit and replace the lining with a fun silk for a hint of playfulness. Montgomery Custom Tailor in Bethesda is wonderful for this.

Where do you like to shop?

Alex in DC, Barneys Co-Op, Daisy Too in Bethesda, and Neiman Marcus.

What do you splurge on?

My biggest splurge was a Prada cocktail dress.

What outfit always makes you feel terrific?

A Manoush top I got at Alex. It’s made of gold Lurex, a metallic yarn, and I wear it with black silk pants. During the day, I live in Tory Burch tunics and Habitual jeans.

What was your worst fashion disaster?

Wearing white Marni pants to a six-year-old’s pizza party.

You provide fashion advice to mothers. What advice do you give?

Invest in basics and shoes that look good but don’t hurt. Know your body and respect your age. Never buy anything on sale that you wouldn’t for full price.
