What’s special: A historic mansion built in 1874 and restored in 2006, the inn has five elegant rooms and suites and is just a block from downtown shopping, art galleries, and theater. Housekeeping is provided twice daily, and every night guests receive fruit, house-baked cookies, and chocolates at turndown. Massage is available in the privacy of your room. The inn’s Cordon Bleu-trained chef has turned the Peacock Restaurant & Lounge into a culinary hot spot.
The deal: The New Year’s Package includes three nights in a suite for the price of two. You’ll get a five-course New Year’s Eve dinner with Champagne toast at midnight; dancing under the stars in the inn’s conservatory; and a New Year’s Day brunch. What’s special: We love the warm, inviting lobby and library with English-country decor and blazing fireplace. The hotel has a stylish ambience: The glamorous rooms have vintage Condé Nast photos and rich wood furnishings. Even in winter, the rooftop lounge, with its retractable glass roof, offers gorgeous views of the Empire State Building.
The deal: The two-night weekend package includes accommodations, continental breakfast, choice of a framed vintage print from the Condé Nast archives, and drinks for two at the rooftop lounge. Washingtonian readers also get a chilled bottle of Champagne on arrival. The two-night stay is $495.
