Dissapointed U St Resident = Vinoteca owner or employee

I went to Vinoteca once and while sitting at the dark colored, granite bar, under the dim lights, a roach came crawling across the bar. It went from the bartender’s side directly towards me. I didn’t notice until it was really close, since I was talking with a friend and the roach nearly blended in with the dark bartop. I jumped out the way and notified the bartender who responded as though that was normal. He didn’t say anything that would put me as ease that the bar was appalled at notice of a huge roach. I don’t really like drinking with pests.

the video images are so generic except for the tiny sound bites and images of the shop signs that there is really nothing useful for a visitor.
on the positive side, it does make us want to read the article to get some content because the video is so frustratingly empty. hope no one paid for that

As a fellow U Street/Logan Circle neighbor, I was eager to read your assessment of dining/bar options in our area. Unfortunately I was sadly dissapointed to see that nowhere in the entire Logan Circle/U Street special section was Vinoteca Wine Bar & Bistro mentioned. It is almost as if Vinoteca does not exist on the whole U Street scene. Their neighbors: Solly’s, Chix, and Greekspot all warranted mentions; why not Vinoteca? I have found that your publication continually ignores the existence of this restaurant or when they do, publishes erroneous or highly biased information (Dan McIntyre October 2008). Luckily the Washington Post (Going out Gurus) have noticed this neighborhood gem.
I visit Vinoteca frequently for their stellar Happy Hour (DAILY from 5-7) and Brunches. They constantly deliver on service, wine and food, which is all that I can ask for. Under their new chef and management, this wine bar has really come alive. All last month, they raised over $1700 for Haiti during their happy hours, as advertised in the Washington Post.
I guess the reason I’m writing this e-mail to you is because I love reading the Washingtonian, but I feel your publication has not given Vinoteca it’s fair chance. Yes, Cork may be DC’s darling, but according to City Paper, OpenTable and Yelp, Vinoteca is a diner’s favorite. So please reconsider my favorite neighborhood wine bar when assessing restaurants/wine bars, especially to be fair to your readers and fellow neighbors.
