Denise Kersten Wills joined the staff of The Washingtonian in 2008 after contributing many articles as a freelance writer. She edits and writes stories on education, real estate, people, and other subjects. Her writing has also appeared in The Washington Post, USA Today, Yoga Journal, National Geographic Traveler, Marie Claire, and other publications.

Denise grew up in Milwaukee and came to Washington to attend Georgetown University, where she earned bachelor's and master's degrees in English. She lives on U Street with her husband.
