Sara Levine was a Washingtonian summer intern in 2005 and an assistant editor from July 2006 to September 2008. She grew up in Chevy Chase and graduated from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School and the University of Pennsylvania.
She spent her high school days editing the student paper, the Tattler. While at Penn, she was an intern at Philadelphia magazine, a reporter for the university’s daily newspaper, and an editor at the student-run weekly magazine, where she started writing about food.
At the Washingtonian, she supervised the editorial internship program and was one of the founding writers for Best Bites, a food blog launched on Washingtonian.com in late 2006. For the magazine, she wrote about restaurants, weddings, beauty, fashion, local events—even a first-person essay about her petite stature.
Sara is currently a culinary student at Le Cordon Bleu in Atlanta and fills her free time with freelance food writing. She continues to contribute interviews with DC food personalities to Best Bites from down South.
