Community Editor

Emily Leaman is Washingtonian.com's community editor. In addition to writing regular features for the blogs, including the Blogger Beat series, she runs audience participation initiatives, such as contests and polls, in the print magazine and online.

She started with The Washingtonian magazine in Fall 2007 as an editorial intern. In January 2008, she joined the online team as a staff writer. Emily became community editor in June 2008.

Emily hails from the Philadelphia area, and went to college near Boston. She majored in political studies and had her sights set on moving to Washington, DC, since freshman year. She completed an internship in Washington during a semester in college and fell in love with the city. Four months after graduation, she moved here for good.

Emily lives near Logan Circle with her husband Chris, her dog Scout, and her cat Tabby.
