He has been reviewing restaurants for The Washingtonian for more than 20 years. Shoffner has also served as consultant for several volumes of Time-Life’s The Good Cook series. In 1985, he was awarded the French government’s Order of Agricultural Merit for his articles on wine. He is a member of the Bordeaux wine society, La Commanderie du Bontemps de Medoc et des Graves.
