Sophie Gilbert is originally from London, England. After graduating from University College London with a BA in English Literature, she managed a restaurant and wrote features for Middle Eastern arts magazine Skin. While studying for her MA in magazine journalism at NYU, Sophie interned at Vogue and Slate. She has written for Slate, The Brooklyn Rail and Culture11, and blogged for Newsweek.com's The Ruckus blog during the 2008 election.
