"Renewing America's Promise"—that's the theme the Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC) has settled on for Barack Obama's January inauguration. According to a statement released today, the theme "underscores the President-elect and Vice President-elect's commitment to restoring opportunity and possibility for all and re-establishing America's standing as a beacon of hope around the world."
All of the official—read: PIC-sanctioned—events, scheduled between Sunday, January 18, and Wednesday, January 21, will highlight the theme. These events, which the newly-elected president and vice president will attend, include a welcome event on Sunday that's open to the public, a private luncheon in the Capitol's Statuary Hall on Inauguration Day, and a prayer service on Wednesday.
Details about the official events, including which balls the president will attend, will be released at a later date. >> All Washingtonian.com inauguration coverage More>> Capital Comment Blog | News & Politics | Society Photos
